A 3-day intensive exploring how actors construct performance through action, relation and composition.

This workshop guides participants through the full creative process: from simple actions, through the development of relations and meaning, to composition.

About the work:

This workshop focuses on:

• using physically-based actor craft to construct performance
• complementing analytical approaches with action-based work
• developing alternative ways of working with material beyond analysis
• working through action, instinct and organic process
• generating meaning through relation, action and composition
• shaping material into a clear, repeatable performance structure without losing quality

Structure (example 3-day intensive)

Day 1 – Action as the Core of Performance
• task-based improvisation
• physical objectives
• partner, object and spatial dynamics

Day 2 – Structuring Through Action
• from impulse to score
• repetition and precision
• ensemble composition

Day 3 – Scene Construction
• combining short performance studies (etudes)
• refinement and final run
• reflective discussion

Final outcome:
A single composed performance run built from material developed during the workshop.
